Rowan and Poplar Class - Year 1

It is a new year and we are already settled into our new classrooms. Take a look at our learning.
We are in our new classrooms exploring the provision.
Miss Ridgers and Mrs Williams reads to us everyday. We enjoy class stories. Term 1 the class are reading The Tiger Came To Tea.

The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!

The magic begins at teatime!

Term 2 we are reading Stick Man.  Stick Man lives in the family tree. With his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three. But it's dangerous being a Stick Man. A dog wants to play with him, a swan builds her nest with him. He even ends up on a fire! Will he ever get back to the family tree?

Term 3 we are reading Dinosaur Hunters. This book is about dinosaurs  taking over the Earth! They're stomping and stamping all over the place. We are excited to find out more...

We chose to read the class book and had a tiger mask to wear. We acted the story in provision.
In Science we have been identifying body part. We took our learning out in our outdoor area.  Drew around our bodies and labelled the parts.

The children learnt about their senses and the different parts of our bodies that we use when using our senses. The children  loved exploring this with their ears, eyes, nose, mouth and hands and trying to use describing words to express how different things sounded, smelt, tasted, felt.

In Year 1 I will learn:
