Charities 25/26

At Severnbanks, our values of belonging and kindness guide what we do—and that includes how we support others. We believe that helping those in need brings our school community closer together and teaches our pupils the importance of compassion and responsibility.

Each year, our School Council selects charities that reflect causes close to our hearts. So far this year, we’ve proudly supported:

  • Young Minds, raising awareness for children’s mental health

  • Our local food bank, helping families in our community

  • Children in Need, joining schools nationwide to make a difference

Through fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and pupil-led initiatives, our children learn how small acts of kindness can have a big impact. These experiences help them feel connected, valued, and empowered to make the world a better place.

Children in Need

Every year, the school council decide what the children will participate in for Children in Need. This year we are asking everyone to wear spots and the school council are holding a cake sale to raise money.

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is one of the key charity events we support every year at Severnbanks. Organised by Comic Relief, it’s a fun and meaningful way for our school community to come together and raise money for important causes—both in the UK and around the world.

Each year, our pupils and staff get involved through fundraising activities, themed dress-up days, and learning about how their efforts help others. Red Nose Day links perfectly with our school values of kindness and belonging, showing children how small actions can make a big difference.

We’re proud to make Red Nose Day part of our annual charity calendar, alongside other causes chosen by our School Council. It’s a day filled with laughter, learning, and generosity—and one our pupils always look forward to.

Red Nose day 2024

The 15th March 24,  the School Council organised a charity day. Children could dress mismatched and teachers were asked to tell jokes during the day. We raised £115.00 for charity and had a great day.  Here are some of the photos.

Previous charities:

Our chosen school charities this year are Cots for Tots, a local charity that undertakes incredible work to ensure that every sick or premature baby from across the South West of England has access to the very best care, 365 days a year. Also, Scoo-B-Doo the Gloucester Neonatal Unit's charity. Scoo-B-Doo was established in 1982 by a small group of grateful parents, doctors and nurses. Today, the registered charity is still run entirely by volunteers and supports the Neonatal Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in caring for sick and premature babies from Gloucestershire and beyond.

These charities were chosen to show appreciation for the wonderful support and care provided to Mrs Sayers and her family, and to give thanks for the short life of Teddy Sayers. We know that you will be very generous in your support – thank you in advance.

Dear Sara Poole

The Grand Appeal - Donation receipt

One act of kindness can change a child’s life forever. Thank you.

More patients than ever are being treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital, and because of you, we can give each and every child the very best chance.

Donations like yours ensure the hospital stays at the forefront of medical care, providing pioneering equipment to treat children from across the South West and beyond.

You make the hospital child friendly, with daily music therapy sessions and arts and play activities. You give parents and siblings a free and comfortable place to stay. You fund life-saving research and provide support and advice to families during the most stressful time.

Our donors and fundraisers change lives every day – together, you make our children’s hospital one of the best in the world and we can’t thank you enough.

The school council also organised events to support national fundraising causes for example Children in Need and Red Nose day.

We also chose to support our local food banks.
