Remote learning
Remote Learning at Severnbanks Primary School
At Severnbanks, we believe that regular attendance is essential for every child’s academic progress, personal development, and future opportunities. Being in school allows pupils to benefit from high-quality teaching, peer interaction, and a supportive learning environment.
However, we recognise that in exceptional circumstances, remote learning may be necessary to ensure continuity of education. Remote learning is provided only as a last resort, and is designed to help pupils stay connected with their teachers and peers while keeping on track with their learning.
🏠 When Remote Learning May Be Considered
Remote education may be offered in the following situations:
-
School closure or restricted access due to exceptional circumstances (e.g. public health measures or emergency events)
-
Individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is well enough to continue learning from home
These individual cases may include:
-
Short-term recovery from medical procedures
-
Infectious illnesses requiring temporary isolation
-
Other rare situations where attendance is not possible but learning can continue
Remote learning will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and only when it is appropriate and beneficial for the pupil.
📚 What Remote Learning Includes
If remote education is approved, pupils may be provided with:
-
Access to online learning platforms and digital resources
-
Daily learning tasks aligned with the classroom curriculum
-
Opportunities to communicate with teachers and receive feedback
-
Suggested routines to support structure and engagement at home
Our goal is to maintain a sense of connection and progress until the pupil is able to return to school.
If you believe your child may require remote learning due to a short-term absence, please contact the school office to discuss your circumstances. We will work with you to determine the most appropriate support.
