Parents/Families
At Severnbanks Primary School, we believe that children learn best when schools and families work in partnership. A strong connection between home and school helps children feel supported, confident, and ready to thrive—both academically and emotionally. That’s why we place great value on building positive, open relationships with parents and carers.

We know that your involvement makes a big difference. Whether it’s attending a school event, supporting homework, or simply staying up to date with what’s happening in class, your engagement helps create a nurturing and successful learning environment for every child.
Families with children at Severnbanks will also receive a secure login for Class Dojo, where you can access daily updates, class news, photos, and messages from teachers. It’s a great way to stay closely connected to your child’s learning journey.
Together, we can build a school community where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Please use the tabs to the right to explore useful and important information. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to help.
Changes to End-of-Day Routines
To make the collection of children easier and safer, we are introducing new end-of-day routines. These changes will take effect from Monday 29th September.
At 3:10pm, the green gates will be opened. Parents and carers of pupils should enter through the green gates and collect their children from the following locations:
- Reception: Collect from the Reception door.
- Year 1: Parents wait in the Year 1 outdoor area under the shelter; children will be dismissed from the classroom door.
- Year 2: Parents wait on the playground next to the green fence, near the circuits makings on the floor; children will be dismissed from the classroom door.
- Year 3: Parents wait on the Key Stage 1 playground under the covered area; children will be dismissed from the gate opposite.
- Year 4: Parents wait on the Key Stage 2 playground in front of the hall doors; children will be dismissed from here.
For Year 5 and Year 6, parents may wait off site or at the back of the Key Stage 2 playground. Children in these year groups will now be dismissed from the hall and may make their own way to parents/carers or walk home. If you do not want your child to leave school unsupervised, please email the office at admin@severnbanks.gloucs.sch.uk by 9.00am Monday 29th September; they then will be kept by the teacher and handed over on the Key Stage 2 playground.
To ensure the process runs smoothly and safely, we need you need to follow these guidelines:
- Wait in your allocated collection area.
- Children will be dismissed one at a time. Please do not call children out before their turn. This helps us ensure that all children are safely accounted for.
- If collecting more than one child, collect the oldest first, then your younger children.
- Exit through the green school gates by 3:25pm. The gate will be closed and locked at 3.30pm.
- Supervise any non-school-age siblings at all times.
- Children must not use the trim trail or other playground equipment during this time.
- If you have messages for your child’s teacher, please contact them via Dojo or via phone as usual. Teachers will not be able to speak to parent/carers while dismissing their class
We kindly ask for your patience over the next few weeks as we settle into the new routine and work through any issues that may arise. We thank you for your help and support in making the end-of-day routines safe and smoother for all our families.
