Welcome to our Year 2 classroom!

We are so excited to begin a year full of discovery, creativity and growing independence. Our classroom is a happy, supportive place where children are encouraged to ask questions, try their best and enjoy learning.

Throughout the year, we will be exploring a range of exciting topics across the curriculum. These include:

  • The Great Fire of London

  • Animals including Humans and Life Cycles

  • Flight

  • Would you rather live in a hot or cold country?

  • The Titanic

  • Plants

  • Materials

Our topics help us to develop our reading, writing, maths, science and foundation subject skills through practical activities, investigations, stories and creative work.

On our class page, you will find updates about what we are learning each term, along with useful information and photographs of our learning where possible.

A Message for Parents & Carers

Your support at home plays a vital role in your child’s progress. Regular reading, practising spellings and number facts, and talking about what your child is learning in school all make a big difference. In Year 2, we also continue to develop strong phonics skills, writing confidence and a secure understanding of number.

Thank you for your continued support. We are really looking forward to a fantastic year of learning together.
