Parenting Support Course

5th September 2017

Dear All,

Welcome to the new academic year. The children and young people we work with face a variety of changes such as he start of a new school or class. Despite our good efforts the way children and young people react to these changes can  impact on the school and the home.

Bream Primary School will be running 'The Solihull Approach' Course for any parents who wish to understand better, and get to grips with the behaviours of their children during their development and such a time as this.

To gain the best experience, Solihull Approach suggest a minimum of 12 parents which we are happy to take from any of the schools in the Forest of Dean or surrounding area.

I would be most grateful if you would share amongst your contacts and parents.

We have 5 'Solihull Approach' trainers from a variety of backgrounds including youth work, youth support work, teaching, 'Relate' and a parent of a child with autism.

I am contactable through Bream School on 01594 562628 or Bream Church Office 01594 562985

One of our team would also be able to come and share more about the course. We might also be able to run the course in your school if you felt there would be sufficient uptake... so please scroll down to find out more.

Looking forward to hearing from you early in  September.

Kind regards,

Barry Stevens

Understanding your child’s behaviour

A Solihull Approach group for parents and carers

❑  Would you like to know more about your child’s development?

❑  Do you understand your child’s behaviour?

❑  Would you like a chance to meet with other parents with children of a similar age?

❑  Do you know why children have temper tantrums?

Groups are held for parents and carers in the Forest of Dean for age ranges from birth to 12 years.

The groups are for parents and carers who want to know more about parenting and how children develop, and to understand children’s behaviour better.

Our evaluation of previous groups has shown that parents have found this group helpful, they tend to feel less anxious and their children’s behaviour tends to improve.

We will explore issues like:

  Having fun together             Communication

  Development needs               Parenting styles

  Behaviour difficulties            Sleep

The group will be run for two hours once a week for ten weeks. Groups do not run in the school holidays.

This course and everything you need is free.

There will be a coffee morning before the group starts so that you can meet the group facilitators.

The first course takes place:

Tuesday September     19th, 26th

Tuesday October        3rd, 10th, 17th 31st

Tuesday November      7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

We meet at Bream Primary School

7.00pm - 9.00pm

Don’t worry if you do not know anyone else coming to the group as one of the course leaders will contact you before the group starts.

We will tell you more about the course and ask you what you want to get out of it.

If you would like to attend this group or for further details contact:
