Any comments – how can we help you support your child with reading, writing

Sharing expectations / levels required for developmental stage and ideas about how to reinforce learning at home. This was covered extremely well by at parents evening and we felt well informed and supported.

Tapestry is great for informing about the learning but sharing what the next stage is would also be helpful.

Send letters home explaining how the children are taught things.

We like to keep books until he is confident with reading the story.

Consistency in changing reading books and monitoring reading progress.

Change books more often.

Thank you for all of those that completed the questionnaire.

As you can see some concerns have been raised in relation to poor behaviour within the school; in response, I wish to reassure you that poor behaviour is taken seriously by all staff and actions are taken in accordance with our school behaviour and anti-bullying policies. If you do have any specific concerns regarding your child please take the opportunity to speak with the class teacher, Mrs Challenger or myself.

As a school we have a number of external moderation visits looking at all aspects of school life and I would like to share with you some of their comments:

The children came into school in a very calm and orderly way showing respect for each other and staff. Staff monitored the children coming into school and in the corridors in a relaxed, caring and friendly manner, engaging the children in conversation. The children entered the classrooms from the cloakroom areas quickly and settled to their initial tasks promptly.

Behaviour was very good.

Pupils have positive attitudes to learning. They engage with the tasks set and enjoy their learning.

Classroom routines are well established, so that there is no time wasted in managing behaviour.

Working relationships between pupils and staff are very good.

Praise is used frequently and successfully to encourage and support pupils’ learning.
