Inclusion
đ Inclusion at Severnbanks Primary School đ
At Severnbanks Primary School, we value the contribution that every child can make and celebrate the diversity of culture, religion, and learning styles. We are committed to raising achievement, removing barriers to learning, and increasing access to both the curriculum and the school environment for all pupils.
All children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are valued and respected as equal members of our school community. Provision for pupils with SEN is the responsibility of the whole school, and all teachers are teachers of pupils with SEN.
A child or young person has special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty or disability which requires special educational provision to be made for them. At Severnbanks, we support pupils across the four broad areas of need:
-
Communication and Interaction
-
Cognition and Learning
-
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health
-
Sensory and/or Physical (including visual and hearing impairments)
đ¯ Our Approach
Severnbanks follows a graduated response to supporting pupils with SEND. Parents and carers are involved at all stages of assessment and planning.
We provide quality first teaching for all pupils, adapting lessons to each child’s stage of learning, using appropriate materials, and offering support within the classroom.
All pupils benefit from a range of teaching and learning styles, including:
-
Differentiated materials and activities
-
Use of IT to support learning
-
A broad range of curricular and extra-curricular activities
-
Access to clubs, school visits, and enrichment opportunities
Where needed, we provide a differentiated curriculum to ensure that every pupil can access learning and thrive.
