Community work
At Severnbanks, we are proud to be at the heart of the Lydney community. Our school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a vibrant hub where people of all ages come together.
We share our site with valued partners including the Riverside Children’s Centre, the Army and Air Cadets, and we work closely with Noden Nursing Home, Rodley House, and St Mary’s Church to build strong community links and intergenerational connections.
Our extensive grounds—including a large field, sports areas, and a beautiful woodland space—are used throughout the week by a wide range of community members. From outdoor learning to local events, our site is a space for everyone.
We also hire out our main hall and sports hall for local events and regular clubs such as Cubs, judo, and dance. If you’re interested in booking any of our facilities, please contact the school office for more information.
At Severnbanks, we believe that children thrive when they feel connected to the world around them. Being part of the Lydney community gives our pupils meaningful opportunities to work with others, build relationships, and develop a sense of responsibility and pride.
Our children take part in a wide range of community activities, including:
-
Choir performances at the town’s Christmas Parade
-
Representing the school at the Remembrance day service.
-
Joining the Lydney Lantern Parade each November
-
Visiting local nursing homes to sing and spend time with residents
-
Working together with residents from Noden Nursing Home and Rodley House on shared craft projects and enjoying special events together
These experiences help our pupils grow in confidence, empathy, and teamwork—while making a real difference to others.
We also love to welcome our community into school to celebrate significant events throughout the year, from seasonal performances to special assemblies and open days. These shared moments strengthen our bonds and show our children the value of connection and kindness.
At Severnbanks, we believe in the power of community and are proud to play an active role in bringing people together.
